It's late, almost after midnight. I just picked Daddy up at the local truck stop where his rig will stay and brought him home to the house we share together. He said a quick hello to the dog before walking around the first floor of the house making sure everything is in order. He always does that.
I know he's tired. He's been driving for over ten hours today to get home to me. He usually takes a week or two to be at home at a time but this visit isn't time off, he's just passing by on his way to deliver a load a few states away so he'll be here for just over 24 hours. I appreciate all of the bonus time that I can get, even if it's hard to say goodbye to him so quickly and I appreciate the extra time he takes and money he spends to make these quick visits to home work. Nothing makes me feel quite as cherished as the effort he puts towards getting home to me as often as he can.
